LorMet’s commitment to financial education extends beyond Lorain High, reaching students in more than 12 school districts across Lorain County in 2023. The credit union’s efforts aim to empower young individuals with the knowledge needed to make informed financial decisions.

“We were thrilled when Ohio made financial literacy a required part of every high school’s curriculum, as we witness firsthand the positive impact of this knowledge in people’s everyday lives. Promoting financial wellness is central to our mission, and we are excited to contribute to classrooms. Our initiative continues to grow, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help prepare the next generation of community leaders.” – Daniel Cwalina, President/CEO of LorMet Community Credit Union

“LorMet Credit Union has helped our students connect what they have been learning in their math classes to what they will be doing in their near future. Students have been learning about calculating interest rates. But hearing from LorMet how interest rates can make a higher car payment and are impacted by credit scores helps students realize that their choices matter and that what they are learning in school can help them be better off financially,” – Colleen Ranson, Intervention Specialist at Lorain High School

On November 13th, LorMet representatives visited Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst to deliver a financial literacy presentation to Michelle Kamczyc’s first-period class. Students learned about different account types, their benefits, and the importance of budgeting and financial responsibility at an early age.
